Brandi Fleck is a playful, socially conscious mixed media artist based in Franklin, Tenn.
She uses various self-taught art forms to intuitively explore collective consciousness, existence, and express thoughts about the human condition.
Brandi creates art because she has to. It’s been one of her languages since she could hold a crayon. Since she’s going to be making art no matter what, she chooses to use it as an instrument for change and a force for good however that need unfolds from moment to moment.
For example, upcoming endeavors include designing products with her original artwork to raise money for her trauma recovery coaching scholarship fund to provide easier access to mental health and healing support for those in traditionally oppressed and marginalized groups.
Brandi created art prints of one of her original works in 2020 to raise funds for Red Cross wildfire relief efforts on the U.S. west coast. And in 2018, she donated an original painting to a silent auction to raise healthcare funds for the unhoused in Atlanta, GA.
Although rarely offered, Brandi has been a commissioned artist in the mediums of graphite, charcoal, and acrylic paint since 2001. Fine art commissions include storefront signage, portraits, a classroom mural, and large-scale abstract and surreal home decor. Brandi was also a professional graphic designer specializing in branding and print materials from 2007-2022.
No matter the medium, she loves achieving grungy aesthetics through the use of color, texture, subject matter, and materials. She combines polish with grit to inspire awareness through juxtaposition.
Brandi’s fine art preference and style has evolved from realism with techniques such as dry brushing acrylics on canvas with attention to lighting to a more abstract, expressive, looser style inspired by imagination, dreams, music, and a knowing that playful, bright art is healing for not only the creator, but also the collector.
Brandi’s preferred mediums now include acrylic paint, acrylic markers, acrylic inks, water colors, charcoal, graphite, chalk and soft pastels, oil pastels, alcohol inks, modeling paste, papers, buttons, paper clips, and more. You can often find her incorporating “junk” into her pieces, whether it’s found wood, chipboard or a thrifted canvas or vintage items to keep them out of a landfill. When Brandi does offer framing, the frames are also often thrifted.
Brandi lives in Franklin, Tenn. with her husband, sons, cat and is originally from Appalachia. She’s also a certified trauma-informed life coach, trauma recovery coach, and host of the top-rated Human Amplified® podcast.
